Jules inducted into Aboriginal Business Hall of Fame.
Former Tk'emlups Indian Band chief Manny Jules has been inducted into the Aboriginal Business Hall of Fame.
Jules and Jim Thunder of Buffalo Point First Nation in Manitoba were inducted on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Toronto, where they received the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business’ Aboriginal Business Hall of Fame Award.
In inducting Jules, the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business and ESS Support Services Worldwide (founding and exclusive sponsor for the Aboriginal Business Hall of Fame) noted he has dedicated his life to the betterment of First Nations.
"His long and successful career as an elected leader of the Kamloops Indian Band in British Columbia is well known. Mr. Jules retired as chief in December of 2000 to devote his full attention to leading the drive to establish First Nations fiscal institutions."
Today, Jules is chief commissioner and CEO of the First Nations Tax Commission.
Thunder held the role of hereditary chief of Buffalo Point First Nation from 1967 to 1997. Under his leadership, Jim drove the implementation of a long-term economic development plan for his community.
Aboriginal business leaders inducted into the ABHF are recognized for their accomplishments in achieving sustainable economic development in aboriginal communities.
