Grade 12 Beattie School of the Arts student Kane Wright dresses as the lovable children’s book character the Cat in the Hat and speaks to students at Kay Bingham elementary on Friday, Jan. 11. The colourful feline character spent the day visiting district elementary schools promoting the Jan. 26 ABC Family Literacy Day at the Henry Grube Education Centre. On that day, books will be given to children. Until that day, books are being collected from the public. Book donations can be made at Kamloops Honda, all Starbucks coffee shops, all YMCA/YWCA locations, both public libraries and all Interior Savings Credit Union branches. In addition to being handed to kids on Jan. 26, books collected will also fill various Bright Red Bookshelves throughout Kamloops and be given to social-service agencies.
