Dickens legacy concert
The Kamloops Symphony Orchestra (KSO) will join with the Kamloops Rube Band to honour Dick Dickens in a special concert on Sept. 10.
Dickens, who died in 2009, had a lengthy career in music locally as a teacher, conductor, band leader and performer.
Dickens left a fund to be administered by the Kamloops Foundation to provide a scholarship to a student pursuing a post-secondary music degree, a contribution to the KSO Foundation for its performance and education programs and money to hold a free public concert featuring the KSO and the Rube Band.
The program includes works by Handel, Rossini, Sousa, Strauss and Anderson.
Although the 8 p.m. show at Sagebrush Theatre is free, tickets are still required and can be obtained at the Kamloops Live Box Office, 1025 Lorne St., 250-374-5483, kamloopslive.com.
