Singing for a broken heart
Country singer-songwriter Corey Hawthorne draws his inspirations from some classic musicians.
A list of those who have influenced what he calls North Americana include Hank Williams, Buddy Miller, Dwight Yoakam, the Beatles and AC/DC.
Mind you, he’s not adverse to channelling the guitar-playing of Jimi Hendrix or Eddie Van Halen when he performs.
The Winnipeg native is headed to Kamloops for a show at The Art We Are on Saturday Aug. 18 at 8 p.m.
It’s part of a tour he’s on to promote his new album, The King of the Broken Hearts, which he said combines country and rock with big twangy guitars, strong melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
Backing him on the recording is Adam Gejdos on guitars, dobro, lap steel and some vocals.
