By James Hibberd
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - HGTV has signed Mark Burnett to take over the production of its highest-rated series, "HGTV Design Star."
The producer of "Survivor" and his team will work on the fifth season of the primetime series, taking over duties from 495 Prods.
"The Mark Burnett team is extremely creative and talented -- masters at crafting entertaining reality programing," said Freddy James, senior vice president of programing at HGTV. "We expect that they will infuse 'HGTV Design Star' with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that will serve as a blueprint for a successful fifth season."
The show follows a group of architects, artists, interior designers/decorators and design enthusiasts as they navigate difficult design challenges to win their own show on HGTV.
