Kamloops woman shot during home invasion
A Kamloops woman suffered minor injuries after being shot during a home invasion last night (Jan. 25), police say.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Doug Aird said Mounties were called to a home in the 800-block of Wawn Road in Westsyde just after 8:30 p.m. for a reported home invasion.
"The homeowner informed police she had just gone into her residence when two males barged their way in, one producing what appeared to be a shotgun," he said.
"They proceeded to rob her of a computer and IPod."
At some point during the theft, Aird said, a struggle ensued and the shotgun was discharged.
The homeowner received minor injuries to her hand and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The Kamloops RCMP's general investigation section is now handling the file, and Aird said they are following up on "a number of leads."
No description of the suspects was released.
Anyone with information is asked to call Kamloops Mounties at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
