Police want to smoke out bandit
Kamloops Mounties are hoping to smoke out a crook who made off with hundreds of dollars worth of cigarettes after a robbery at a Sahali convenience store over the weekend.
RCMP Const. Rose Dunsmore said police were called to the 7-Eleven store on Summit Drive at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, for a reported robbery.
A clerk at the store told investigators he had been threatened by a thief with a hammer and pepper spray.
“It’s my understanding that he’d asked for both cigarettes and cash, but he left the store after receiving the cigarettes,” Dunsmore said.
“The value was considerable — a little under $500.”
Investigators are reviewing the store’s video surveillance.
The suspect is described as a white man in his late teens to early-20s, standing five-foot-six with blond hair.
He was wearing a white T-shirt, a hoodie and a camouflage jacket.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
