Police nab prolific offenders
A pair of prolific offenders found themselves back behind bars this week after being busted with drugs and an illegal weapon during a traffic stop, police say.
Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said Mounties received information on Tuesday night (March 15) that a 27-year-old prolific was in possession of drugs and officers tracked down a vehicle he was in near the East Trans-Canada Highway in Valleyview.
When officers pulled the vehicle over, they found another prolific offender riding shotgun.
Learned said a search of the vehicle turned up just under two grams of crack cocaine and a small amount of heroin, in addition to an illegal switchblade knife.
Also found was $145 in cash, an electronic scale and a meth pipe.
Steven Insua, 27, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
Donald Lefebvre, 35, has yet to be charged, but drug charges have been recommended against both men.
