Vehicle pursuit sends four to hospital

Kamloops Mounties believe a vehicle pursuit led to a violent collision overnight which sent four people to hospital.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Doug Aird said initial reports indicate a vehicle containing four "young occupants" was being pursued by another car at about 2 a.m. in the 2500-block of Thompson Drive when it lost control.

Investigators believe the vehicle being pursued skidded off the road on a sharp curve and struck a power pole.

All four of the occupants were taken to hospital with what Aird called "undetermined injuries."

"Of concern to police is the report of the crashed car being pursued leading to the collision and what could have been far more serious injuries had the airbag not deployed," he said.

Aird said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
