No charges in hairpin head-on

Neither alcohol nor speed were factors in an early-morning head-on collision on the Summit Drive hairpin curve on Monday, June 13.

Mounties say a white Jeep was travelling down the Summit Connector when the vehicle’s steering mechanism malfunctioned and the driver lost control.

The Jeep crossed a concrete divider and sideswiped a Ford Mustang before colliding head-on with a Dodge Caravan.

Several people suffered minor injuries.

Police say no tickets were handed out and it’s not likely any charges will be laid.
