Witnesses help in arrest

A Kamloops man will likely face robbery charges after a purse-snatching incident in Aberdeen this week.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said a couple in their 70s was walking to their car after dinner at a restaurant in the Four Points Sheraton Hotel on Rogers Way at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, when a man grabbed the woman’s purse and fled.

A number of witnesses in the area watched as the man got into a car and drove away and gave police a detailed description of the vehicle.

The car was spotted by police at about 10 p.m. on Tranquille Road and its occupants were arrested.

Learned said the vehicle was being driven by a man matching the description given by witnesses to the purse-snatching.

His female passenger was also arrested after police found drugs on her person.

The man eventually told police where they could find the purse, which was recovered in Valleyview sans some cash.
