Man drinks. Man challenges Mustang. Man loses. Man hospitalized
A Kamloops man is recovering in hospital after apparently failing in his attempt to outrun a car on the North Shore on the weekend.
Police were called to Fortune Drive on the north side of Overlanders Bridge at about 1 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, after a 21-year-old man was struck by a vehicle.
Witnesses told police the man ran across four lanes of traffic and then immediately bolted back to his starting point, apparently trying to outrun an oncoming Ford Mustang.
He didn’t make it and suffered a broken leg and chipped teeth as a result.
A woman who was with the injured man said he had been drinking.
The driver of the Mustang called police and paramedics after the collision.
No charges are being considered against the driver of the car involved in the collision.
