Police probe drug-related beating

A Kamloops man is in serious but stable condition after a violent drug-related attack in Aberdeen on the weekend.

Police were called to the 1200-block of Rogers Way at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, after the 25-year-old victim called police to say he had been beaten.

The victim told Mounties he’d taken a city bus to the area of the Aberdeen Medical Centre, where he was supposed to meet a woman.

When he got there, he told police, he was jumped by two men — one armed with a baseball bat and the other with a knife.

The men robbed the victim of his money, drugs and cellphone.

He was beaten over the head with the baseball bat and suffered a fractured skull.

Police made one arrest on the weekend — a 19-year-old man, picked up at a home on Gleneagles Drive —  but are still looking for the second suspect.

Mounties say all those involved were known to each other.
