Kamloops United Church aims high
A major renovation project for a downtown church has moved to the next step.
Council has approved a development permit to allow the Kamloops United Church to begin a renovation project at Fourth Avenue and St. Paul Street.
The plan is to build a new meeting place, storage and preschool in the lower level of the building and a fellowship hall and kitchen on the main level.
A staff report noted the renovation is only the first phase of the church's plans.
The church intends to develop the rest of the property, constructing a mixed-use building that will include church services on the main floor and residences above.
The city is working through the rezoning development on that portion of the project with the church.
