KRCC shanking lands inmate in hospital
A 25-year-old inmate at Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre is recovering in hospital after a jailhouse shanking this afternoon (Oct. 20).
Police say they were called to the prison just after 2:30 p.m.
"A male had been stabbed with a pen," said Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned.
"One subject has been taken to Royal Inland Hospital suffering from a wound to the area just below the eye."
Learned described the injury as "not serious, not life-threatening."
He said investigators will likely be on-scene at KRCC into this evening gathering evidence.
No names have been released.
