Shooting in downtown Kamloops
Police are searching for evidence after a shooting in a downtown Kamloops alley early this morning (Nov. 5).
Witnesses say a 52-year-old man was shot once just under his right shoulder in the alley of the 300-block between Seymour and Victoria streets at about 2:30 a.m.
"He was zen-fully calm at first," Torrey Owen told KTW.
Owen, who was in the area with his girlfriend, was the first witness to arrive on-scene.
He said the witness asked for help.
"He was like, 'Can you guys phone an ambulance? I just got shot.'"
Emergency crews were quick to respond, Owen said.
Kamloops RCMP Const. Kelly Butler confirmed to KTW one man had been shot, but she said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
As of 3 a.m., no arrests had been made.
Police had the alley between Third and Fourth avenues and Victoria and Seymour streets taped off, with a police-dog unit combing the area.
