Kamloops RCMP hunt suspect in violent home invasion
Kamloops Mounties are hoping a tip from the public might help them track down the suspect in a violent New Year's Day home invasion.
At about 6 a.m. on Jan. 1, police were called to a home in Upper Sahali for a report of an assault.
Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Doug Aird said a man broke into the house just after 5 a.m. and viciously attacked a man and woman inside.
Investigators believe the incident was not random, and that the assailant knew the victims.
Aird said police have obtained a warrant for the arrest of 20-year-old Mitchell James Nesbitt, but they can't locate him.
Nesbitt is facing potential charges of break-and-enter and assault causing bodily harm.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
