Pair nabbed in stolen Jeep Liberty
A pair of Kamloops men will likely face property charges after a sharp-eyed Mountie pulled over a stolen vehicle in the West End.
Just before 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, police say, a plainclothes officer pulled over what he deemed a suspicious Jeep Liberty with Alberta plates on St. Paul Street West.
According to Mounties, the vehicle stopped and the driver got out and fled on foot. The Jeep’s passenger was arrested, while a perimeter was set up to snare the driver.
He was located on Nicola Valley Road a short time later and taken into custody.
Police say the Jeep was reported stolen the previous day, having disappeared from a fenced compound on Athabasca Street.
Neither suspect has been identified, but RCMP say they will likely face charges of possession of stolen property.
Both men are known to police.
