RIH reaches ICU goal
It seemed lofty when it was announced 12 months ago, but the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation (RIHF) has surpassed its one-year goal of raising
$3 million for a new intensive-care unit.
The fundraising effort wrapped up with a public skate alongside campaign spokesman Mark Recchi at Interior Savings Centre on Saturday afternoon.
“We hit the ground running as soon as Mark, popular Kamloops hero, became involved,” said Veronica Carroll, RIHF’s executive officer.
“We appreciate Mark’s dedication to his hometown hospital. It really shows how much he cares about the people in this growing community.”
The final tally puts RIHF’s efforts at $3,073,521.
Upgrades to the unit will include improved technology, privacy and efficiency as well as increased comfort for patients and their families.
