Mrs. McLeod goes to Washington — and New York
Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo Conservative MP Cathy McLeod will take part in a fact-finding mission to Washington and New York this week as a member of the Standing Committee on Finance.
“Part of the finance committee’s mandate is to monitor economic and financial developments in Canada,” McLeod said.
“Since Canada’s largest trading partner is the United States, issues that affect their economy will directly affect our economy.
“Recent U.S. legislation, such as the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the Budget Control Act of 2011 and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, are expected to have a significant impact here.”
The committee will have briefings at the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund, Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the New York Stock Exchange, and is scheduled to meet with House Banking and Financial Services Committee members and Members of Congress,
