Plenty of booze — and an assault — at big party

Kamloops RCMP are investigating a reported incident of assault with a weapon that took place at a large bush party at Tree Flats on the Scuitto Lake Forest Service Road on Monday, June 18.

Mounties heard about the party and brought in six extra officers who checked 500 vehicles carrying 1,200 students to the site, destroying plenty of liquor during the in the process.

In many cases, there were designated drivers or parents dropping children at the party.

An officer was on scene and called for an ambulance to take the victim to Royal Inland Hospital.

She was released with injuries to her face and head.

As officers were investigating the assault, one of their own vehicles — a police truck — sustained several hundred dollars’ damage to the mirror.
