HOG members rally for one of their own

A member of the Kamloops Harley Owners Group was badly injured  in a motorcycle crash while in Texas last week — and members of the group are helping her.

Members of the group raised $1,000 in a matter of days to help support member Karleene Schmidt and her family in their time of need said Rick Turner of Kamloops Harley Owner's Group.

Pete Murie, general manager of Kamloops Harley Davidson, paid for a plane ticket to get one of Schmidt's daughters to Texas to be with her mother.

Anything Paint and Autobody donated a $2,500 gift certificate for paint and body work. It is currently up for silent auction being promoted by Kamloops Harley Davidson.

To bid, people can call Kamloops Harley Davidson at 250-828-0622, drop by the shop in person at 1465 Iron Mask Rd. or go online to kamloopshd.com.

The bidding ends at 4 p.m. on July 14.

Scmidt is in critical condition at a Texas hospital and unable to return to Canada, according to the Kamloops Harley Davidson website.
