City opens Pioneer Park boat launch
A second city boat launch is reopening on Wednesday, July 11.
The Pioneer Park boat launch is set to reopen at noon, while the McArthur Island boat launch has been open to the public since last week.
However, the city is keeping its launch in Valleyview — which is still underwater — closed for the time being.
While portions of the river have reopened after last month's heavy rains and flooding, the RCMP has not yet lifted its ban on boating between the confluence of the Thompson rivers and the Red Bridge.
Boaters who do head out on the waters are advised to stay cautious and watch for debris in the still-high waters.
