One person dead after highway crash south of Kamloops
One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash 20 kilometres south of Kamloops this afternoon (July 20).
Kamloops Rural RCMP Staff Sgt. Doug Aird said emergency crews were called to a portion of Highway 5A near Napier Lake just before 3:30 p.m. after a motorist noticed skid marks leaving the highway.
Fire crews located a truck about 150 feet down an embankment. One person is confirmed dead.
The name and gender of the victim have not been released. It's also unclear whether there were any additional occupants of the vehicle, or what kind of truck was involved.
The highway remained closed until 6 p.m. Aird said alternating traffic is now being let through as an RCMP traffic investigator looks into the crash.
