Alcohol suspected in Sahali crash
A Kamloops man will likely face drunk-driving charges after an early-morning wreck on the weekend forced emergency crews to pry open his vehicle with the jaws of life.
Just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 22, police and fire crews were called to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of McGill Road and Columbia Street in Sahali.
A Chevrolet Cobalt had collided with and sheared off a light standard.
The driver of the vehicle escaped injury, but a male passenger had to be removed with the jaws of life.
He was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with non-life-threatening shoulder injuries.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and they will likely forward drunk-driving charge recommendations — including impaired driving causing bodily harm — to the Crown.
