Hazmat concerns reported after Kamloops industrial fire
UPDATE: The fire was out by 10 p.m., according to police at the scene. They said the blaze was now in the "mop-up" stages. Investigators don't believe the fire was suspicious. A Mountie at the scene told KTW the flames appear to have started inside the building.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Police and fire crews are at the scene of a structure fire near Paul Lake Road on the Kamloops Indian Band reserve.
The blaze broke out tonight (Aug. 5) at about 8 p.m., and there have been reports of potential hazmat concerns.
An RCMP officer keeping traffic clear of the area said investigators are not yet sure what caused the blaze, but are working to keep the area clear in case the fire gets out of control.
Smoke could be seen billowing out onto Chief Louis Way and towards the North Shore.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
