Council approves carriage-suite request

An application to build a laneway home in Fraser Street had a full third of Kamloops city council declaring themselves in conflict of interest at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Coun. Marg Spina and her husband Ross are asking to have their property rezoned so they can replace their one-car garage with a two-storey carriage suite.

In addition to Spina, Tina Lange and Donovan Cavers also stepped out of the discussion.

Cavers has a similar application coming to council on Sept. 11 and Lange has similar rental properties downtown.

The remaining two-thirds of council agreed to move the application to the public-hearing stage.
