Bail denied in 'significant' heroin bust
A Kamloops man implicated in a $100,000 heroin bust last week will spend the foreseeable future in jail, a judge has ruled.
Guljit Singh was denied bail in Kamloops provincial court on Monday, Sept. 17.
The 43-year-old and his wife were arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 12, outside an Aberdeen-area hotel.
The woman was released without charges, but Singh is facing one count of possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking.
A court-ordered ban prohibits the publication of any of the information presented in court during the bail hearing, but police last week said they seized just over 500 grams of heroin worth approximately $100,000.
Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush called it a “significant” bust.
Singh was convicted in 2005 of possession of a controlled substance and fined $750.
He’s due back in court on Sept. 24.
