Collision disrupts Seymour Street traffic
A violent collision on Sunday, Sept. 24, shut down a downtown intersection for nearly two hours and sent two women to hospital.
Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said the crash at Seventh Avenue and Seymour Street took place at about 1 p.m. when the driver of a black Mercedes Benz, headed south on Seventh, hit a Ford Focus.
The Benz then smashed into a hydro pole, nearly cutting it in two.
The driver of the Focus, a 33-year-old Salmon Arm woman, was taken to Royal Inland Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, as was her passenger.
The driver of the Benz, a 22-year-old Kamloops man, was not injured, but was ticketed for failing to stop.
The intersection was reduced to single-lane traffic for 90 minutes while crews worked to clean up debris and repair the hydro pole.
