Crash dumps man into police probe
Kamloops Mounties think alcohol was to blame for a single-vehicle crash involving a dump truck on the Trans-Canada Highway on Monday, Oct. 1.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said emergency crews were called to Highway 1 near the Lafarge exit just before 8 p.m.
Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle — a dump truck hauling a trailer — "drift off the the road and into the ditch," Learned said.
The crash caused significant damage to the vehicle and the driver — a 53-year-old Westwold man — had to be extricated from the truck's cab.
Police believe the man had been drinking prior to the crash and are going to have his blood tested to determine alcohol content.
Charges have yet to be laid.
