Arrest in connection to serious stabbing
One man is in hospital and another in police custody after a stabbing at a Sahali apartment in the early-morning hours of Monday, Oct. 15.
Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said Mounties were called to the emergency room at Royal Inland Hospital at about 12:30 a.m. after a 19-year-old woman arrived with her 25-year-old boyfriend, who was bleeding heavily and who collapsed in the hospital entrance.
Police learned the victim had been stabbed in the neck at an apartment on Whiteshield Crescent shortly before, then dropped off by another man in a Ford Explorer.
Learned said police found the SUV parked a short distance away. The driver had apparently fled on foot, but was arrested on Columbia Street.
Police believe he stabbed the victim — described by Learned as "an acquaintance" — before driving him to the hospital.
The 25-year-old suspect could face a charge of aggravated assault, Learned said, depending on what police find while executing a search warrant at the apartment.
The Ford Explorer has also been seized as evidence.
No names have been released, but Learned said the victim is from Pritchard, while the suspect lives in Kamloops.
Both men are known to police, he said.
