Gottfriedson re-elected chief of Tk'emlups Indian Band
Shane Gottfriedson has been re-elected as chief of the Tk'emlups Indian Band.
TIB members voted on Saturday, Nov. 10, and returned Gottfriedson to the chief's position for another three-year term. He received 250 votes.
In releasing election results, the TIB did not include vote tallies for Gottfriedon's challenger, Marie Baptiste, who also ran against the chief in the 2009 election.
Fifteen candidates were seeking seven band council seats, with the following being elected: Fred Seymour (229 votes), Colleen Mosterd-Mclean (210 votes), Richard Jules (202 votes), Edward Jensen (195 votes), Janet Jules (181 votes), Rosanne Joan Casimir (170 votes) and Katy Gottfriedson (167 votes).
In releasing election results, the TIB did not include vote tallies for the eight candidates who were not elected, nor did the TIB state how many residents voted and what voter turnout was.
As of March 2011, the TIB had 1,058 residents, according to the most recent polling.
