Mounties arrest suspect following robbery of Panago
A 25-year-old man will likely face a string of serious charges after a robbery at a Sahali pizza shop last week.
Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said Mounties have made an arrest following the Nov. 29 robbery of Panago Pizza on Summit Drive.
Investigators believe a suspect walked into the take-out restaurant brandishing a knife at about 10 p.m. and demanded money.
He was handed a small amount of cash and fled on foot.
Learned said an arrest was made late Saturday night (Dec. 1), when investigators found the 25-year-old man they believe to be responsible for the hold-up sleeping in a basement suite on Robson Drive in Upper Sahali.
Police will likely recommend charges of armed robbery, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been made public, also faces outstanding drug charges from a previous incident, Learned said, noting officers found a small amount of cocaine in his residence when he was arrested.
“He isn’t what you’d call well-known [to police],” he said.
“But, it’s someone who has a substance-abuse problem and there are underpinning issues to his lifestyle.”
