Another candidate emerges for Conservative nomination
On Monday, Dec. 17, Kamloops' B.C. Conservatives will reveal a second candidate for the party's Kamloops-South Thompson nomination.
Party regional director Alan Forseth said the as-yet-unnamed individual "strongly believes in the common sense goals and ideals of our party," but offered few other details in a press release.
So far, only former Kamloops city councillor Peter Sharp has stepped forward to run for the party's nomination in the Kamloops area.
Sharp, vice-president of the B.C. Conservatives' Kamloops-South Thompson constituency, announced in November his bid for the riding's nomination.
The party's Kamloops-North Thompson Conservative riding association has yet to announce any contenders.
Challenging the Conservatives to succeed outgoing B.C. Liberal MLA Kevin Krueger in Kamloops-South Thompson are Liberal candidate Todd Stone and NDP candidate Tom Friedman.
In Kamloops-North Thompson, incumbent Liberal MLA Terry Lake and NDP candidate Kathy Kendall.
The provincial election will be held on May 14, 2013.
