Ajax mine will be good for Kamloops economy, families
Editor:
I have heard enough complaining from people who do not understand mining.
Mining today is safer and more environmentally controlled.
The proposed Ajax mine south of Aberdeen will bring jobs and money into Kamloops. This crap about falling property values and poor air quality is just stupid.
Opponents should step outside and smell the pulp mill and see what spills out of it 24 hours a day.
The Ajax proponents have already done test blasting. Residents in Aberdeen did not even know this occurred and they will not even notice when the mine starts production.
This mine will put money into the community as mining has already donated large amounts of money to Kamloops.
We need jobs here as many for young people have left town (Convergys, Pollard Banknote et al).
As for Aberdeen, there is too much building in that area. I would be more concerned about sliding off the hill.
My husband has been in mining all his life and makes a very good living. He is happy when he comes home every day and we have a high-quality lifestyle.
Lots of people would benefit from the Ajax mine.
Young people would be able to purchase homes, something that cannot be done on $9 an hour.
Opponents need to think and educate themselves on mining before complaining about a good thing for Kamloops and the surrounding area.
