With Ajax’s arrival, we all fall down

Re: Polish firm takes control of Ajax:
Abacus Mining has sold its stake to the Polish firm, KGHM, for $30 million?
So, let the money change hands.
It would seem Abacus sees the writing on the wall, but KGHM is still betting on approval.
And, it really wouldn’t make much difference to us which one of them was responsible for 23 years of disruption in our city, would it?
Along with the rest of concerned Kamloops citizens, I am appalled there is still talk of placing a mine on city property.
No one with a grain of common sense would build a city on top of a mining project, however lucrative.
How, then, can we consider allowing a mine to be built on top of our city?
As for jobs, we’d all like to have a stake in gold profits — but not at the price we are looking at: KGHM gets the gold and we get the consequences.
Unless we call a halt to this travesty, we may as well join a circle of children and go sing in the park:
“Ring around the gold-mine,
Brains a-fulla moon-hine, Hush now, Shush now, We all fall down!”
