Stone’s letter a groan-inducing ‘pile of blather’
Editor:
Todd Stone’s letter of Feb. 26 (‘Stone disputes columnist’s viewpoint’) made me groan due to the Kamloops-South Thompson B.C. Liberal candidate’s overt butt-kissing.
Stone wrote “I know our government would love to provide more program grants for programs like it [Big Little Science Centre]. Obviously, tough choices are required in order to balance the budget and, hopefully, with a strengthened economy that will result from our government’s prudent financial management, government will be able to provide more funding soon.”
What a pile of blather.
Here’s a very simple solution based on a Globe & Mail headline of the same day: “Banks awash with profits.”
Let me be the first to solve the government’s problem, not “soon,” but right away by having Prime Minister Stephen Harper tax those bank profits.
Now there would be an obvious source of immediate money to support programs like Big Little Science Centres across Canada.
Stone’s is one letter the KTW editor should have edited for brevity.
