•High-scoring Flyers top Bulldogs
The Timbits Flyers skated to an 8-3 win over the Timbits Bulldogs on Sunday, Jan. 16, in initiation D action at Brocklehurst Arena.
Luke Bateman scored four times in the win, while Jameson Rende, Austin Burke, Harjun Serown and Hunter Haukeness added singles.
Cole Senum registered two assists in the win.
Adam Niles posted the win in net for the Flyers.
Noah Bradley tallied twice for the Bulldogs and and Liam Campbell added a single.
•Hawks clip Wings, Blue Thunder on fire
The Sandman Ice Hawks flew past the Spicy Chicken Wings 9-6 on Sunday, Jan. 16, in atom recreation play.
Benjamin Ward (3), Eric Bertuzzi, Cole Standen (2), Devon Tournour, Carson Desmarais and Benjamin Pearse lit the lamp for the Hawks in support of winning goaltender Nathan Sandulescu.
Scoring for the Wings: Victor Church, Jamie Daniels, Branden McKimmie (3) and Zach Bachand.
The Spicy Chicken wings were dinged for a second loss on Sunday, when the Blue Thunder beat them 7-2 at Interior Savings Centre.
Scoring for the Blue Thunder: Joshua Jensen (2), Liam Rose (2) and Jordan Devries (3).
Tallying for the Wings were Kassidy Sherwood and Sebastian Ouimet.
Riley Moore was in net for the Blue Thunder.
•Sharks declaw Ice Tigers
The Sandman Ice Tigers could not quite catch the Sandman Ice Sharks, who won the atom recreation tilt 8-6 on Sunday, Jan. 16.
C.J. Ferguson, Cordell Davidson (3), Ethan Smith (2), Jimmy Gustason and Taylor Russel scored for the Sharks.
Jayden Russell (2), Austin Stanton, Jared Pringle, A.J. McInnis and Peter Buff notched goals for the Tigers.
Deegan Conrad was the winning netminder.
•Boom narrowly escape Avalanche
The Sandman Sonic Boom scored with 11 seconds left in the third period to secure a 2-1 win over the Sandman Avalanche in KMHA atom recreation action on Sunday, Jan. 16, at ISC.
The Avalanche opened the scoring on an unassisted goal by Garrett Miller. The Sonic Boom were led by goals from Dylan Dudley and Jayden Grant, while Christian Rider added an assist.
Both goaltenders were fantastic in net amid a barrage of shots, with Tyson Dmyterko in net for the Avalanche and Josh Humphrey between the pipes for the Sonic Boom.
•Nords, Knights skate to draw
In bantam house action, the Nordiques tied the Knights 1-1.
Ryley Harrison lit the lamp for the Nordiques, while Tyler Wightman scored for the Knights.
The Nordiques did not fare so well against the Winterhawks, losing that tilt 10-1.
•Black Knights cruise in Clearwater
The initiation D Kamloops Timbits Black Knights placed second at a tournament in Clearwater, finishing the weekend with a 3-1 record.
The Black Knights opened their tournament against the Clearwater Blue Tornadoes, winning that tilt 11-4.
Scoring for the Black Knights were Aidan Sutter (2), Jaden Zunti (3), Zander Denis(2), Tyler Fernie(3) and Ty Haywood-Farmer.
In their second game, the Knights lost 8-6 to the Kamloops Timbits Ice Devils.
The Black Knights goal scorers: Sutter, Zunti (3), Denis and Kim Davidson.
In their third game of the tourney, the Black Knights edged the Clearwater White Knights 7-6.
Hunter Coleman recorded his first goal of the season for the Black Knights. Sutter (3), Denis, Zunti and Fernie added goals of their own.
The Knights, in their final game of the tourney, shellacked the 100 Mile House Bruisers 11-0.

•Nightmares given wake-up call
The Blue Thunder edged the Nightmares 13-3 on Saturday, Jan. 15, at Valleyview Arena.
Registering goals for the Thunder were Elessio Louvros (4), Ethan Dicostanzo (3), Ben Anderson (2), Stuart Hollander, Nolan Austin, Dexter Williams and Jackson Diehl.
Earning the win between the pipes was Jared Floodstrom.
Yvonne Manwaring scored twice for the Nightmares.
•Blackhawks evade Avs
The Canadian Tire Blackhawks slipped past the Brock Auto Avalanche 6-5 on Sunday, Jan. 16, in peewee house action.
Preston Guerra netted four goals for the Blackhawks, while Austin Morphy and Karn Mahal added singles.
Scoring in a losing cause for the Avs: Jake Barron (3), Kenzie Sakaki-Hodder and Evan Lum.
Scott Poelzer earned the win between the pipes.
•Beez top Sharks
The Killer Beez skated to a 2-1 victory over the Sharks in atom recreation play on Sunday, Jan. 16.
Evan Guizzo notched both Beez markers, while Matthew Nixon replied for the Sharks.
Garrick Cassidy was between the pipes for the Killer Beez.
•Ice Ducks attack Kelowna
The atom development Kamloops Ice Ducks ran away with a game against a Kelowna squad, winning the tilt 7-0 on Saturday, Jan. 15.
Nathan Thiessen, Connor Milburn, Brendan Roche (2), Ty Kolle (2) and Chad Petrie scored for the Ducks in support of winning netminder Max Palaga, who earned the shutout.
•Jardine Blazers better Kelowna
The bantam AAA Kamloops Jardine Blazers skated to two league victories on the weekend.
On Saturday, Jan. 15, the Blazers doubled Kelowna 8-4.
Ryan Gropp led the way with four goals, while Carter Cochrane, Chad Butcher, Nic Chyzowski and Mason Harding added singles.
Monty Chisholm assisted on four Blazers' goals.
Kyle Michalvosky posted the win in net.
On Sunday, Jan. 10, Kamloops hammered Vernon 10-0.
Butcher scored twice and added two assists, while Carson Bolduc netted two goals of his own.
Adding singles for Kamloops were Gropp, Chyzowski, Cochrane, Addison Bazian, Nic Fidanza and Matt Murray.
Liam McLeod posted the shutout.
The wins push the Jardine Blazers' league record to 12-1-1.
•Warriors tie 'Tips
The atom development LN Group Warriors tied the Salmon Arm Silvertips 5-5 in Sicamous on the weekend.
Ryan Chyzowski led the Warriors with a hat-trick, while Hunter Dairon and Hunter Klassen added singles.
Jarrett Larsen was in net for LN Group.
•Spitfires too hot for Gamblers
The Kamloops Office Systems Spitfires topped the Zimmer Wheaton Gamblers 8-3 in peewee house action.
Scoring for the Spitfires: Nolan Dicostanzo (2), Dimitri Louvros (2), Blaise Brewer (2), Brendan Bickert and Harrison Rosch.
Gabe Bedard was the winning netminder.
Karsten Huth, Ty Welsh-Hicks and Evan Wynne scored for the Gamblers.
•Flames tame Wild
The M&M Meats Flames burned the Mair Jensen Blair Wild 9-2 in bantam recreation play.
Jordan Moore (2), Matthew Hans (2), Riley Peterson (2) Rylan Spence, Dylan Cail and Bryce Paul netted goals for the Flames.
Seven Scheifele and Kyle Ellis replied for the Wild.
Dagen Kennedy and Austin Reimer split time between the pipes for M&M Meats.
•Motor Inn boys win tourney
The bantam tier 2 Kamloops Maverick Motor Inn hosted and won a ten-team tournament at McArthur Island Sports Centre on the weekend.
Burnaby Winter Club put up a fight in the tourney's final, but the Kamloops squad prevailed 3-1.
Scoring in the final for Motor Inn were Myles Jarvis-Rorison, Cole McCaskill and Dexter Robinson, who's marker was scored on an empty net.
In a semifinal tilt, the Kamloops squad earned a 2-1 shootout win over Wenatchee.
Helgason scored in regulation and in the shootout.
Ryan Clifford and Cole Clifford also scored in the shootout for Motor Inn.
•Vibe successful on the road
The Kamloops Vibe Senior A hockey team completed their first road trip of the new year this past weekend with four games against AA teams in the lower mainland. The first game Friday night saw the Vibe come out on top of the league leading Killarney Knights by a score of 2-1, with Rochelle Smith and Nicole Oud combining for the scoring.
Saturday morning Kamloops took on the Delta Jets. With 2:26 left in the game , the Vibe on a penalty kill and the jets with the their goalie pulled, Kamloops still managed to protect a 3-1 lead to win the game.
Saturday afternoon had the Vibe back on the ice to play the BC Thunder to a 2-2 tie with Jenna Ormondy and Rochelle Smith scoring for Kamloops.
The final game of the weekend, Sunday morning, was a 0-0 tie against the Richmond Devils. Ashley Fisher earned the shutout, and was in net for all the games this weekend.
•Warriors sneak past Bruins
The Timbits Warriors edged the Timbits Bruins 9-7 on Saturday, Jan. 15, in initiation D action.
Scoring for the Warriors: Brendan Kirschner (4), Jacob Haines (3), Cameron Ryles and R.J. Gerow.
Joshua Rankin got the win in goal for the Warriors.
On Sunday, Jan. 16, the Warriors beat the Nightmares 11-3 in exhibition action.
Kirschner (2), Haines (2), Ryles, Gerow, Jakob Spencer (2), Brooke Cave, Amanda Martin and Dusan Cantin.
Joshua Rankin backstopped the Warriors to victory.
•Aeros navigate through Thunder
The Sandman Aeros defeated the Sandman Thunder 7-2 on Sunday, Jan. 16, in atom recreation action.
Ethan Crawford and Andrew Warner had two goals each, while Jack Thomson, Joel Crawford and John Black added singles for Aeros.
Thomas Wojak scored twice for the Thunder.
•Mystix beat Princeton
The female peewee AAA Kamloops Mystix earned a 7-2 win over Princeton on Sunday, Jan. 16.
Cora lee Mitchell scored three goals, Taylor Finnie scored twice and Hailey Balatti-Cooke added a single for Kamloops.
•Sam's Custom Cabinet Warriors lost 3-1 to the Tru Market Ducks on Tuesday, Jan. 18, in midget action.
Registering goals for the Ducks were Jacob Adam, Blake Spencer and Brett Lewis.
Zzak Ishida was the Warrior's lone talisman.
•The initiation D Timbits Ice Devils were crowned champions at the Clearwater Novice Tournament, which took place Saturday, Jan. 15, and Sunday, Jan. 16.
In their first game of the tourney, the Ice Devils cruised to an 11-6 win over the Clearwater White Knights.
Jarrod Semchuk (3), Sheldon Gerlib (3), Liam Edstrom (3) and Keegan Fletcher (2) lit the lamp for the Kamloops squad in support of netminder Jackson Russell.
The Ice Devils, in their second game, topped the Kamloops Black Knights 8-6.
Nolan Virgo (3), Semchuk (2), Edstrom, Fletcher and Jakob Bennett scored for the Ice Devils in support of netminder Tyler Anderson.
In their third game of the tourney, the Ice Devils ran over 100 Mile House 10-2.
Semchuk (4), Bennett, Fletcher, Edstrom, Michael Hutchinson, Michael Bishop and Russell scored for the Ice Devils.
The winning goaltender was Sheldon Gerlib.
In the tournament final, Russell backstopped the Ice Devils to a 9-8 win over the Clearwater Blue Tornadoes.
