KMHA round-up, Jan. 21 to Jan. 23
•Flyers triumph over Knights
The Timbits Flyers skated to a 14-5 win over the Timbits Black Knights at Valleyview Arena on Saturday, Jan. 22, in initiation D action.
Registering goals for the Flyers were Harjun Serown (6), Jameson Rende (2), Cole Senum (3) and Adam Viles (3).
Replying for the Knights were Kaedyn Bert, Aiden Sutter (2) and Jaden Zunti (2).
Luke Bateman earned the win between the pipes for the Flyers.
•Saints too much for Chargers
The Mair Jensen Blair Saints proved too strong for the Kamloops Chargers on Saturday, Jan. 22, when the Saints earned a 5-2 victory.
Five different goal scorers — Kyle Ellis, Jordan Deley, Aiden Demers, Morgan Munden and Chet Flanagan — lit the lamp for the Saints.
Lighting the lamp for the Chargers were Joel Knuttila and Shaymus Stachoski.
Saints netminder Cole Feeve backstopped the Saints to victory.
•Blue Thunder tame Bulldogs
In initiation D action, the Timbits Blue Thunder topped the Timbits Bulldogs 7-4 on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Valleyview Arena.
Nolan Austin and Ethan Dicostanzo registered hat tricks for the Thunder, while Elessio Louvros added a single.
Dreyden Cloutier, Liam Campbell, Jacob Proulx and Landon Kinney were the Bulldogs' talismen.
Jared Floodstrom was in net for the Thunder in the win.
•Sharks unable to register win
The Kamloops Sharks fell victim to two atom recreation opponents on the weekend.
First, the Ice Sharks skated to an 8-4 victory over the Sharks in a battle for ocean supremacy.
Cordell Davidson (2), Dakota Hofmann, Chris Penner (2), Taylor Russell (2) and Graham Epp scored for the Ice Sharks.
Josh Olynyk (2), Jorden Zienowicz and Matthew Nixon replied for the Sharks.
Jimmy Gustason posted the win in goal for the Ice Sharks
The Thunder gave the Sharks their second loss of the weekend, a 10-6 defeat.
Thomas Wojak and Skye Conners registered hat tricks for the Thunder, while Ben Prokopetz, Zane Ferguson, Chad Caller and Anthony Corea added singles.
Olynyk recorded four goals for the Sharks and Angus Mcquillan-Gordon added a pair.
•Roofing Devils climb to victory
The Western Roofing Devils earned a 4-3 win over the Salmon Arm Silvertips on Saturday, Jan. 22, in atom development play.
Salmon Arm fought back with three goals in the third period, but Devils captain Johnny Ludvig's goal in the final frame cemented the Kamloops squad's win.
Ludvig (2), Seiji Brown and Haden Nordick scored Western Roofing's goals in support of winning netminder Ethan Langenegger.
•Thunder outpace Avalanche
In atom recreation action, the Sandman Inn Blue Thunder edged the Sandman Inn Avalanche 6-4 on Friday, Jan. 21, but the Avs struck back on Saturday, Jan. 22, when they earned a 7-4 win over the Ice Tigers.
Scoring for the Avs againt the Blue Thunder: Keaton Dell (2), Garrett Miller and Zach Pankuch.
Registering goals for the Blue Thunder: James Bates, Joshua Jensen (2) and Jordan Devries (3).
Earning the win in goal for the Blue Thunder was Spencer Shyiak.
On Saturday, Keaton Dell and Colton Davoren each netted a pair for the Avs, while Garrett Miller, Brandon Walker and Dawson Bradley each scored one.
Replying for the Ice Tigers were A.J. McInnis (2), Jake Tabor and Jayden Russell.
Tyson Dmyterko was the winning netminder.
•Flyers sneak past Warriors
The Timbits Flyers edged the Timbits Warriors 8-7 on Sunday, Jan. 23, in initiation D action at Brocklehurst Arena.
Cameron Ryles notched four goals for the Warriors, while Brendan Kirschner netted two and Dustan Cantin added a single.
•Nordiques, Chargers lose to A$W Flyers
The bantam A&W Flyers posted two wins on the weekend.
A 5-1 victory over the KamloopsCity.com Nordiques saw Christian Lacasse (3), Kyle Metz and Brendan Doherty tally for the Flyers.
Mack Muir replied for the Nordiques.
John Collins and D.J. Lapierre split time between the pipes for the Flyers.
The Flyers' second win of the weekend was an 11-2 victory over the Northern Trailer Chargers.
Scoring for the Flyers: Lacasse (3), Doherty, Metz, Josh Campbell (2), Justin Devries, Simon Fortier, Ryley Acres and Victor Mercuri.
Cameron Augustine and Brogan Lloyd replied for the Chargers.
Collins and Lapierre spit the win in goal.
•Warriors win a close one
The LN Group Warriors skated to a 4-3 win over the Kelowna Icehawks in atom development action.
Payton Ball, Hunter Dairon, Ryan Chyzowski and Luke Recchi each had one goal in the win.
Nolan Mongey posted the win in goal.
•Winterhawks skate to win over Knights
In bantam recreation action on Sunday, Jan. 23, the Scotiabank Winterhawks beat the Knights 7-2.
Cody Kirbyson and Tristan Harrison each had a pair for the Hawks, with singles going to Colton McMechan, Ty Scott Davidowski and Parker Klassen.
Alden Smith and Dayne De La Roode scored for the Knights.
Cole Loring was between the pipes for the Winterhawks.
•Maverick Motor Inn keep rolling
The bantam tier 2 Kamloops Maverick Motor Inn boys shut Vernon out 7-0 on Saturday, Jan. 22.
David Larouche, Cole Clifford, Maxwell James (2), Ryan Clifford (2) and Evan Helgason scored for the Kamloops squad.
Josh Shank had the shutout win in net for Maverick Motor Inn.
•Blue Thunder win a high-scoring affair
Memorial Arena was the location for the Sandman Blue Thunder's 9-5 win over the Sandman Ice Sharks on Saturday, Jan. 22, in atom recreation action.
Jordan Devries (6), Joshua Jensen (2) and Andrew Lewis scored for the Blue Thunder.
Cordell Davidson (4) and Blair Pitts scored for the Ice Sharks.
Spencer Shyiak earned the win between the pipes for the Blue Thunder.
•Mystix deadlock with Silvertips
In female bantam tier 1 play, the Kamloops Mystix tied 3-3 with the Salmon Arm Silvertips.
Courtney Morice, Kirra Racine and Skywe Gottfriedson scored for the Mystix.
In goal for the Mystix was Emma Gottfriedson.
•Lions tie Merritt, lose to Salmon Arm.
The peewee tier 3 North Shore Lions came away from two weekend tilts with a tie and a loss.
On Saturday, Jan. 22, the Lions tied 4-4 with Merritt.
Matthew Roche registered a hat trick in the game. Bennett Hunter added a single.
Reid Gladman was in net for the Lions.
On Sunday, Jan. 23, Salmon Arm topped the Lions 2-1 in Sicamous.
Ryan Ignace notched the Kamloops squad's only goal.
•Ice Ducks lower the boom
The atom development Kamloops Ice Ducks proved too strong for the Kelowna Spartans on Sunday, Jan. 23, winning the tilt 7-0.
Connor Milburn, Ryan Anderson, Jarret Daoust (2), Brendan Roche (2) and Ty Kolle scored in support of winning goaltender Kendra Woodland.
•Bruins on their game
The Timbits Bruins won a 13-7 barnburner with the Timbits Ice Devils on Saturday, Jan. 22, in initiaion D action.
Parker Erickson (2), Sam Fawcett, Harrison Ewert (6), Kaleb Costigan, Ethan Schanzenbach (2) and Josh Glover scored for the Bruins.
Scoring for the Ice Devils were Liam Edstrom, Jarrod Semchuk (4) and Keegan Fletcher (2).
Matthew Yon was the Bruins' netminder.
•Sonic Boom win once in Lumby
The atom recreation Kamloops Sandman Sonic Boom posted a 1-1-2 record at a tournament in Lumby on the weekend.
In their first game, the Sonic Boom lost 2-1 to the Kelowna Avalanche.
Jayden Grant scored the Sonic Boom's only goal.
Osoyoos edged the Kamloops squad 3-2 in the Sonic Boom's second game.
Dylan Dudley and Jordan Brown lit the lamp for the River City squad.
In their third game, the Sonic Boom were on the winning end of a 3-1 scoreline in a game against the hometown Lumby Stars.
Brown, Christian Ryder and Connor Humphrey scored for the Kamloops squad in support of winning netminder Josh Humphrey.
The Sonic Boom, in their final game of the tournament, tied the Langley Thunderhawks 3-3.
Ryder and Connor Humphrey (2) scored for the Sonic Boom.
Josh Humphrey was in net for the tie.
•Wings not quite Spicy enough
The Spicy Chicken Wings posted a 1-1-2 record at an atom recreation tournament in Lumby on the weekend.
In their first game, the Wings were outclassed 8-0 by the Osoyoos Black War Lords.
The Wings bounced back in their second game, beating Lumby 10-1.
Victor Church (2), Riley Toporowski (3), Sebastien Ouimet (2) and Kassidy Sherwood (3) scored for the Wings in support of winning netminder Nic Shufletoski.
In their third game, the Wings were blanked 2-0 by a Langley squad.
The Wings managed a 4-4 draw with the Kelowna Avalanche to finish the tourney.
Toporowski, Cameron LeDressay (2) and Branden McKimmie scored for the River City squad.
•Logging Splicers split one with Kelowna
The LeBeau Logging Splicers earned a 1-1 draw with a Kelowna squad on Sunday, Jan. 24, in female midget play.
Morgan Nowoczin's unassisted goal was the Splicers' only marker.
Ice Hawks fly to Lumby
The atom recreation Sandman Ice Hawks posted a 1-2-1 record at an atom recreation tourney on the weekend.
In their first game, the Hawks tied Langley 3-3.
Nathan Sandulescu, Logan Gilroy and Devon Tournour scored the Ice Hawks' goals.
The Ice Hawks, in their second game, topped Lumby 6-0.
Brandon Gremaud (2), Cole Standen, Benjamin Ward, Carson Desmarais and Thomas Ratuski put the puck in the net for the Kamloops team.
Kelowna and the Ice Hawks tied at 7 in the Kamloops squad's third game of the tourney.
Standen, Gremaud (2), Tournour, Desmarais, Eric Bertuzzi and Blake Ablitt scored for the Ice Hawks.
South Okanagan topped the Ice Hawks 9-4 to close out the tourney.
•Peewee Blazers in tough in PG
The peewee tier 1 Kamloops Jardine Blazers posted a 1-2-1 record at a tournament in Prince George.
In their opening game, the Blazers topped Fort St. John 5-4.
Jordan Fidanza, Tyler Baker, Stefan Nesci (2) and Michael Fidanza scored for the Kamloops squad.
Matthew Hicketts was in net for the Blazers.
In their second game, the Blazers tied 3-3 with Vernon.
Baker, Michael Fidanza and Brendan Semchuk tallied for the Blazers.
Spencer Eschyschyn was in net for the Blazers.
In their third game, the Blazers lost 5-3 to Prince George.
Baker, Jordan Fidanza and Mccoy Pearce-Orr scored in a losing cause.
In their fourth game, Dario Piva scored the only Blazers' goal in a 5-1 loss to Fort St. John.
Kamloops, in its final game, lost 3-2 in a shootout to Vernon.
Semchuk and Michael Fidanza scored in regulation for the Blazers.
•Aeros double Beez
The Aeros doubled up 4-2 on the Killer Beez in atom recreation action on Saturday, Jan. 22.
Scoring for the Aeros: Evan Sonnleitner (2), Chloe Jordan and Ethan Crawford.
Becky Ramgren and Evan Crowe scored for the Beez.
Kaleb Virgo was in between the pipes for the win.
