Rebels edge Blazers in OT

The Kamloops Blazers failed to post their second overtime win in as many games on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Brett Ferguson scored early in the extra frame to give the Red Deer Rebels a 4-3 win over the Blazers, who topped the Oil Kings 4-3 in overtime on Friday, Feb. 18, in Edmonton.

In Red Deer, Colin Smith, J.T. Barnett and Bronson Maschmeyer lit the lamp for Kamloops in support of netminder Jeff Bosch, who made 42 saves on 46 shots.

It was Bosch's second straight 40-plus save night, as he made 46 saves on 49 shots in Kamloops' win over Edmonton on Friday.

The Blazers (26-31-3-1) are in eighth place in the WHL's Western Conference, three points up on the Chilliwack Bruins (24-29-2-3).

The Bruins, who have three games in hand on the Blazers, are in Vancouver on Friday, Feb. 25, for a tilt with the Giants.

Kamloops plays the Hurricanes in Lethbridge on Wednesday, Feb. 23, before closing out a five-game road trip with tilts against the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday and the Kootenay Ice on Saturday, Feb. 26.

The Blazers' next home game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 2 against Kelowna.
