- Devils too hot for Warriors
The Timbits Ice Devils edged the Timbits Warriors 12-9 in initiation D action at Valleyview Arena on March 5.
R.J. Gerow and Brendan Kirschner each scored hat-tricks for the Warriors, while Connor Defoe, Tyson Maclaughlin-Milton and Cameron Ryles netted singles.
- Flyers soar over Thunder
The Timbits Flyers earned a 10-3 victory over the Timbits Blue Thunder in initation D action on Saturday, March 5, at Valleyview Arena.
Harjon Seroun (5), Jameson Rende, Luke Bateman (3) and Cole Senum lit the lamp for the Flyers in support of winning netminder Adam Niles.
Replying for the Blue Thunder: Jared Floodstrom, Domenico Comita and Ethan Dicostanzo.
- Blackhawks squeak past Office Systems
The Canadian Tire Blackhawks ended their regular season with a 7-5 win over the Kamloops Office System Spitfires in peewee recreation play.
Scoring for the Blackhawks: Austin Morphy (3), Alek Giguere (2), Corey Hink (game winner) and Preston Guerra.
Tallying in a losing cause for the Spitfires were Blaise Brewer (3), Harrison Rosch and Nolan Dicostanzo.
Colin Clark was between the pipes for the win.
- Mystixs grab spot at provincials
The female midget A Kamloops Mystixs earned a spot at provincials with a 4-1 win over Kelowna on Saturday, March 5.
Jaclyn Frilund scored twice, while Julie Palmatier and Tyra Jamison added singles.
The Mystixs begin their run at a provincial title on March 26 in Invermere.
- Maverick Motor Inn fall to OHA
The bantam tier 2 Maverick Motor Inn boys fell 3-1 to Okanagan Hockey Academy in an exhibition game on Sunday, March 6.
Ryan Clifford notched the Kamloops team's only goal.
- Peewee Mystix fly OMAHA banner
The peewee female AAA Kamloops Mystixs earned an OMAHA banner after a 6-3 win over the Vernon Lakers in Game 3 clinched a best-of-three series win.
Brianne McCaffrey (2), Cheyanne Watkinson, Anna Morrish, Hailey Balatti-Cooke and Makenna Fitzgerald tallied for the Mystix in support of winning netminder Sydney Carter.
Vernon pushed the series to Game 3 after a 4-2 win over the Kamloops squad in Game 2.
Scoring for the Mystix in the loss: Balatti-Cooke and Morrish.
Next up for the Mystix is the provincial championship tournament in Clearwater.
- Spicy Chicken Wings win once at tourney
The atom recreation Spicy Chicken Wings posted a 1-2-1 record at the Atom Blast Tournament in Kamloops on the weekend.
In their first game, the Wings and Ice Tigers solved nothing, tying that tilt 4-4.
Jacob Stewart (2), Jarrett Mirtle and Zach Bachand lit the lamp for the Wings in support of goaltender Victor Church.
Austin Stanton, AJ McInnis, Jayden Russell and Caelen Williams replied for the Ice Tigers.
In Game 2, the Wings lost 9-2 to the Langley Hitmen.
Stewart and Sebastian Ouimet registered the Wings' goals.
The Wings, in their third game, tied the Semiahmoo Snipers 7-7.
Mirtle (2), Ouimet, Brandon McKimmie, Cameron LeDressay and Kassidy Neil bulged the twine for the Wings.
The Wings earned their first win in the final game of the tourney, a 6-1 triumph over the Westside Predators.
LeDressay (2), Stewart, Church (2) and McKimmie potted goals for the Wings in support of winning goalie Nik Shufletoski.
- Ice Tigers scratch and claw at tourney
The Kamloops Ice Tigers posted a 1-2-1 record at the Atom Blast Tournament on the weekend.
In their first game,the Ice Tigers tied the Spicy Chicken Wings 4-4.
Jacob Stewart (2), Jarrett Mirtle and Zach Bachand lit the lamp for the Wings in support of goaltender Victor Church.
Austin Stanton, AJ McInnis, Jayden Russell and Caelen Williams replied for the Ice Tigers.
Birch Mierau backstopped the Ice Tigers.
In their second game, the Ice Tigers tied the Semiahmoo Snipers 5-5.
Mierau, McInnis, Russell and Jared Pringle (2) scored for the Ice Tigers in support of netminder Ryan Clark.
The Ice Tigers, in their third game, were on the losing end of an 8-1 scoreline against the Langley Hitmen.
Pringle notched the Ice Tigers' only goal.
In their last game of the tourney, the Ice Tigers topped the Mission Hawkeyes 6-2.
Mierau, Russell (2), Jordan Mariona, Tanner Berardi and Jake Tabor scored for the Ice Tigers in support of goaltender Clark.
- Bantam Mystix fare well at home
The female bantam tier 1 Kamloops Scotiabank Mystixs hosted a round-robin tournament on the weekend.
Game 1 saw Kamloops double the Kelowna Rockets 2-1.
Cassidy Mellot and Courtney Morice tallied for the Mystixs, who went with Emma Gottfriedson between the pipes all weekend.
In their second game, the Mystixs lost 5-1 to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
Ali Sherwood notched the Mystixs' only goal.
Kamloops closed out its tourney with a 5-1 win over the Prince George Cougars.
Mellot, Kiana Karolyi (2), Brooke Bazian and Skywe Gottriedson scored for the Mystixs.
- Atom Ice Ducks skate to OMAHA glory
The atom development Kamloops Ice Ducks are Okanagan Mainline Amateur Hockey Association champions.
An 8-1 win over the Vernon Venom in the final of a conference playoff tournament earned the Ducks the championship.
Connor Milburn (2), Jarret Daoust (2), Ty Kolle (2), Nathan McDonald and Curtis Armstrong lit the lamp in support of netminder Max Palaga.
The Ducks opened their tourney against the Kelowna Lakers. That game ended in a 3-3 tie, with Daoust (2) and Milburn scoring for Kamloops.
In their second game, the Ducks edged the Venom 2-1, with Daoust and Nathan Thiessen potting goals for Kamloops in support of netminder Kendra Woodland.
The Ice Ducks, in their third game, tied the Penticton Vees 5-5.
Daoust (2), Kolle, Brendan Roche and Chad Petrie scored for Kamloops.
In the tournament semifinal, the Ducks cruised to a 7-1 win over the Kamloops Western Roofing Devils.
Thiessen, Armstrong, Petrie (2), Kolle (2) and Roche bulged the twine for the Ducks.
The Ducks finished first in the regular-season standings and won four tournaments this season.
- Rockets blast into post-season
The female midget AAA Thompson Okanagan Rockets finished their regular season with two wins over the Fusion in Vancouver on the weekend.
Thompson Okanagan won the first game 5-1.
Colby Williams , Janessa Jenkins , Kelsey Freudenberger (2) and Cora Sutton scored for the Rockets in support of netminder Tara Bouvette.
The Rockets beat the Fusion 1-0 in the second game.
Sutton scored the game's only goal in support of Shelby Tse, who earned the shutout.
The Rockets' BC Female Midget AA Hockey League playoff action begins on March 18 in Kelowna.
- Ice Hawks ousted in semifinal tilt
The Sandman Ice Hawks lost 5-4 to the Semiahmoo Snipers in the semifinal of an atom recreation tournament on the weekend.
Brandon Gremaud (2) and Benjamin Ward (2) tallied in support of Ice Hawks' netminder Elijah Joly.
The Ice Hawks opened their tourney with a 7-2 win over the Sonic Boom.
Gremaud (2), Cole Standen (3), Eric Bertuzzi and Joly scored in support of winning netminder Nathan Sandulescu.
The Ice Hawks, in their second game, earned a 5-0 win over the Westside Predators.
Ward, Gremaud (2), Tyler Standen and C. Standen registered goals. Joly earned the win in goal.
In their third game, the Ice Hawks topped the Mission Hawkeyes 7-1.
Gremaud (2), Carson Desmarais, Jesse Kotani, Blake Ablitt, Devon Tournour (2) scored in support of Sandulescu.
- Sonic Boom post two wins at tourney
The Kamloops Sandman Sonic Boom posted a 2-2 record at an atom recreation tournament on the weekend.
In their first game, the Sonic Boom lost 7-2 to the Ice Hawks.
Jordan Brown and Jayden Grant scored for the Sonic Boom.
Brandon Gremaud (2), Cole Standen (3), Eric Bertuzzi and Elijah Joly scored for the Ice Hawks.
The Sonic Boom, their second game, blanked the Mission Hawkeyes 7-0.
Brown, Tylan Fraser (2), Christian Ryder (3) Luigi Comita scored for the Sonic Boom in support of netminder Josh Humphrey.
In their third game, the Sonic Boom edged the Westside Predators 4-3.
Ryder, Brown, Fraser and Dylan Dudley scored for the Sonic Boom.
The Sonic Boom's tournament ended with a 9-3 loss to the Langley Hitmen.
Dudley, Connor Humphrey and Grant tallied for the Sonic Boom.
- Bulldogs end season on a high note
The Timbits Bulldogs wrapped up their initiation D season with a 10-3 win over the Kamloops Nightmares on Saturday at Valleyview Arena.
Noah Bradley, Bailey Monteith and Adam Bennee each scored twice to lead the Bulldogs, while Reed Watson, Jacob Proulx, Mason Swanton and Liam Campbell notched singles.
Dreyden Cloutier posted the win in net for the Bulldogs.
Scoring for the Nightmares: McKayla Jones (2) and Shauna Mondin.
