Rockets blast into finals
The Thompson Okanagan Rockets won a semifinal series with the Prince George Cougars to advance to the female midget AAA provincial championship.
Thompson Okanagan will face off in the championship final against the Kootenay Wildcats in a best-of-three series, which starts today (Friday, March 25) in Kelowna.
In Game 1 against the Cougars, the Rockets skated to a 3-1 win.
Scoring for the Rockets: Janessa Jenkins, Steph Schaupmeyer and Colby Williams.
Thompson Okanagan suffered a 4-3 loss to the Cougars in Game 2.
Cora Sutton (2) and Mackenzie Barrie lit the lamp for the Rockets in a losing cause.
Thompson Okanagan netminder Tara Bouvette stood tall in Game 3, leading her squad to a 2-1 victory.
Williams and Schaupmeyer notched the goals for the Rockets.
