Birdies flying at South Kam-hosted provincials

The South Kamloops Titans are hosting the provincial high school badminton championships, which run through Saturday, May 28, at the TRU Gym and the Tournament Capital Centre.

Ross Perkin, Alison Slater and Stephane Roy coach the Titans, who are the No. 5-ranked squad in B.C.

Each best-of-11 tie consists of four girls’ and four boys’ doubles matches, a boys’ single match, a girls’ singles match and a mixed-doubles match.

Cam Perkin, Carson Chu and Ali Hines have been pegged to make some noise at provincials for the Titans.

Today’s action runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with play on Saturday, May 28, starting at 8 a.m. and wrapping up at 2 p.m.

The tournament final is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday.
