RiverDogs to host provincials

The Kamloops RiverDogs are hosting the B.C. Minor Baseball Association’s midget AAA provincial championship, which gets underway on Thursday, July 28, at NorBrock Stadium.

Kamloops opens its tourney against Tri City at 7:30 p.m.

The Riverdogs meet Cloverdale at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 29, before closing the round-robin against Vancouver at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 30.

On Sunday, July 31, the tournament final is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Ridge Meadows, Victoria, Richmond and Mid Island make up the tourney’s other pool.

Kamloops finished the regular season in third place with a 27-15 record.

Ridge Meadows finished atop the standings with a 37-5 record.

Kamloops closed its regular season with back-to-back losses to Vancouver on Sunday, July 24.

The Dogs split a doubleheader with Richmond on Saturday, July 23.

In the win against Richmond, Mike Gilfillan pitched five innings, giving up one run on three hits.
