Senior Rattlers host playoff game at Memorial
The senior C Kamloops Rattlers will host the Kelowna Raiders in Game 2 of a best-of-three senior C Okanagan Xtreme Lacrosse League semifinal series at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at Memorial Arena.
Game 1 was played on Monday, July 25, in Kelowna.
The Raiders topped the Rattlers 14-6.
Chris Phillips, Jason Glover, Mark Jurista, Nathan Woldum (2) and Devon Larsen scored for Kamloops in support of netminder Mike Smith.
Game 3, if necessary, is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2, in the Little Apple.
Kamloops finished the regular season in a tie with the Armstrong Shamrocks for fourth place with 10 points, while Kelowna topped the standings with 14 points.
Armstrong earned the No. 3 seed on goal differential.
The Rattlers are backing into the playoffs after dropping their final regular-season game 6-5 to the Vernon Tigers, who will meet the Shamrocks in the league’s other semifinal series.
“It is disappointing,” Rattlers’ captain Mark Jurista said of the loss to Vernon, “but we are looking forward to the playoffs and know we are capable of playing well, as we did last year.”
Kamloops won the league title in 2010.
