Blazers celebrate 30 years
The Kamloops Blazers are celebrating 30 years of junior hockey this season, which gets underway on Sept. 24 when the Prince George Cougars visit Interior Savings Centre.
The squad was known as the Junior Oilers from 1981 to 1984.
In 1984, the club was renamed the Blazers.
To celebrate 30 years, the Blazers have introduced a new logo that will be placed at centre ice for the entire 2011-12 season.
The Blazers will also be wearing vintage jerseys to commemorate the anniversary this season.
Blazerhockey.com will countdown the 30 days leading up to the home opener against the Cougars.
A year in Blazers’ history will be reviewed each day.
Additional celebration events and details will be unveiled during the upcoming season.
