Locals brave heat in Penticton race
Seven Kamloops runners competed in the Bike Barn 10-kilometre Run, a Canadian Tire Interior Road Race Series event, in Penticton on Sunday, Sept. 11.
Melvin Doherty (48th overall, 48:50), Fraser Stewart (65th, 50:38), Regina Black (118th, 59:34), Roger Turner (119th, 59:57), Karen Willies (135th, 1:05:49), Bruce Butcher (140th, 1:09:03) and Kathryne Flannery (142nd, 1:10:15) braved hot temperatures to finish the race, which featured 146 runners.
Aaron Heidt of Vernon finished first with a time of 32:28.
The circuit’s final event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 18, in Kelowna.
