The Kamloops Blazers lost two exhibition games to the Kelowna Rockets on the weekend.

Kelowna earned a 5-4 shootout victory over Kamloops at Prospera Place in the Little Apple on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Cole Ully, Tyler Hansen, JC Lipon and Matt Needham lit the lamp for the Blazers in support of netminder Cam Lanigan, who stopped 37 of the 41 shots he faced.

Needham and Tim Bozon were unable to beat Rockets’ netminder Jordon Cooke in the shootout.

The Rockets edged the Blazers 3-2 on Friday, Sept. 9, at Interior Savings Centre (ISC).

Ully and Ryan Hanes scored for Kamloops, which went with Cole Cheveldave between the pipes.

Cheveldave made 18 saves on 21 shots.

Austin Madaisky, Colin Smith, Brendan Ranford, Chase Schaber, Jordan DePape, Dylan Willick and Josh Caron, all of whom were attending NHL training camps, were out of the Blazers’ lineup on the weekend.

Those players, and forward J.T. Barnett, will also be out for this week’s games against the Prince George Cougars.

Kamloops hosts Prince George at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at ISC.

The Cougars host the Blazers on Friday, Sept. 16.
