Local skating clubs take to McArthur's ice

Seven skaters from the Valleyview Skating Club participated in the Autumn Leaves Figure Skating Competition, which ran from Friday, Oct. 14, to Sunday, Oct. 16, at the McArthur Island Sports Centre.

Cassandra Labermeyer won gold in the junior bronze women's 13-and-over division.

In the introductory interpretive category, Labermeyer placed second, Kirsty Newbury was third and Holly Neufeld was sixth.

Bryce Turner was the only entrant in the junior bronze men's division.

In the pre-preliminary women's Group 3 category, Jana deJong placed second and Mackenzie Sewell was third.

In the preliminary women Group 2 division, Haley Barber placed seventh.

Neufeld placed fourth in the preliminary women Group 3 division.

Autumn Leaves was the second competition in B.C.'s Skate Canada Super Series.

Victoria Warner placed seventh in the pre-preliminary Group 2 division.

Giorgia Lanzoni placed seventh in the pre-preliminary Group 3 division.

Brittany Boyd placed third and Taylor Clark placed fourth in the preliminary women Group 2 category.

Katiana Reaney earned a fourth-place finish in the junior bronze women 13-and-over division.
