Spence qualifies for World Cup events
Tori Spence of the River City Racers has qualified to race in a pair of World Cup long-track speed-skating events.
Spence entered three events — the 1,500-, 3,000- and 5,000-metre races — at time trials in Calgary on Sunday, Oct. 30.
The top-five skaters in each event qualified to race in the fall World Cup events.
Spence placed fourth in both the 3,000- and 5,000-metre races and eighth in the 1,500-metre.
She will race in the 3,000-metre race at a World Cup long-track event, which runs from Nov. 18 to Nov. 20 in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
Spence is also scheduled to race the 5,000-metre at a World Cup event in Heerenveen, Netherlands, in December.
